Who We Are
Founded in 2011, Youth First is an innovative organization with the goal of engaging young people by creating a trusting environment where young people can reach their full potential. We view young people as an asset for the development of the country. The core of Youth First’s work is to give young people the space and skills to build their future. Young people are idealists, who can still see the beauty in the world and what may be.
We use an appreciative inquiry approach to build on the belief that despite all the hurdles that we young people face in our journey for self-realization, we are amazingly resilient, creative and want to break the cycle of poverty. Our organization trusts young people’s ability to grow and innovate from the challenges they face on their journeys – we encourage risk taking and trust that failure provides space for creativity and new approaches. We succeeded where other organizations working for youth fail because all our programs are designed and implemented by young people for young people.

Join Our Mission!
Take action, inspire, advocate
Youth First envisions a national community of young people who believe in their self-worth, are well-informed, smart decision-makers and are motivated to be leaders and change-makers in their own communities
We firmly believe that we, as young people, have great potential to increase the effectiveness of all development agencies to craft more relevant policies and create better programs for both young people and the overall population. We believe that every development agency needs local expertise to better clarify youth perspectives, participation and consultation as well as better community prioritization, local problem solving, conflict resolution, bottom-up planning and local community organisation.
Our History
Committed to Making a Difference
Youth First has been at the forefront of making a difference in young people’s lives since 2011. Located at the intersection of community and life, Youth First is a life-affirming journey that builds on the richness and power of lifelong values. We have been providing young people the confidence and skills they need to become exceptional community leaders.

Committed to Empowering Our Youth
Our Beliefs
Youth First aims to prepare young people aged 15 to 24 years old in making the best life choices for themselves, their families and their communities. As the leading Youth Organization in Antananarivo and Madagascar, we aim to create a long lasting and positive impact on all of the community’s youth through our wide range of enrichment programs. We value equity, trust and accountability - and go above and beyond to instill these values into the minds of our community’s youth.

Our Programs
Paving the Way to a Brighter Future
Since 2011, we have offered youth in Antananarivo a wide range of enrichment programs to unleash their potential. We provide them a nurturing environment that allows them to develop the skills they need to become prominent leaders of tomorrow. Governed by the principle of Equity and Human Rights, we encourage real participation from youth in all of our activities, which are designed to address youth welfare and deal with key developmental challenges youth face daily, such as lack of access to health services, unemployment and climate change as well as insufficient or lack of participation in socio-economic and political development.
